Electromagnetic Energy (EME) emissions from the cell tower can result in GPS signal loss and cause a mission to abort and, in extreme cases, the drone to behave erratically. Shortly before this happens, the satellite count and signal strength displayed at the top of your capture app usually drops. So keep an eye on the GPS signal strength - especially while the drone is flying close to antenna panels.
To work around this problem, fly further away from the tower in 1 m (3.3 ft) increments. Bear in mind, though, that capturing the tower further away will result in lower resolution. How to capture further away from the tower depends on the capture app you are using:
- Scanlink: Increase the 'Edge of Tower' radius R. To do so, mark the 'Edge of Tower' wider than it actually is.
- Mission Planner: Increase the 'Distance to Tower' setting.
DJI Phantom 4
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is significantly more susceptible to GPS interference than the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 and the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. It is not supported for Scanlink.
